What it takes to be the best!

Today I got the answers from clay McKenzie our recently graduated apprentice who fished top of the class at TAFE…

When did you know you wanted to be a welder?

After my first two work placements at Roddy Engineering, I did both at Roddy Engineering. I was offered an apprenticeship and couldn’t wait to start.

Why did you want to be a welder?

I like Hands on work and find satisfaction in making things and doing it right.

What do you like about working at Roddy’s?

Good bunch of bloke’s which make’s it easy to come to work every day. We get a lot of good projects we can bury our head in for the day which means the day goes quick.

What type of projects do you like working on?

I like the pipework projects and stainless-steel sheet work the best.

What do you think some of your strengths were that allowed you to finish top of your tafe class?

I have a drive to be successful at what I do. If I’m doing a job, I want to do the best work I can. That’s pretty much it.

Where do you see yourself in the future in your career?

Well I think one day I would like to either own my own business or be in a management role here at Roddy Engineering.

Thanks Clay, no doubt wherever you go you will be successful!
