Do you have what it takes to be a Great Team Member?

The right staff members are assets to any business and the business performance.
What attributes make a fantastic new staff member for us? We posed this question amongst the team and while experience is always a great addition to anyone’s resume, we all agreed if you possess the following qualities then you can make a great tradesman and a wonderful addition to the team at Roddy Engineering or any business for that matter. How many of these qualities do you possess?

1.      Do you have a Great Attitude?

It’s a no brainer, but a positive attitude is infectious and if it results in making the team more positive then the work efficiencies by the entire team improve.


2.      Logical Thinking and Reasoning?

A great tradesman needs to be able to comprehend complex systems, how they work, how problems arise and how to fix them

3.      How are your Communication Skills?

Besides understanding technical complexities, you must also have a knack at interpreting it into layman’s lingo when communicating the same to clients and workers.

 

4.      Attention to detail?


Paying attention to the minutest of details throughout the course of any project is crucial in engineering because the cost of making even the slightest of errors can be huge.

5.      Are you Creative and Innovative?

A competent tradesman is always creative enough to think outside of the box and invent ways and means to improve existing systems and innovate new ones.

6.      Are you a Team Player? 

It goes without saying; you can go further when you work together. Any project that is completed successfully and efficiently has a great team, and not just one person, working behind it.

7.      Can you problem solve?


There’s no escaping problems in the midst of any project. A great tradesman must be able to address them as they arise, figure out where they stem from, and deal with them methodically and effectively.

 

8.      Technical Knowledge –

Possessing great technical knowledge of machinery, tooling and processes you work with is imperative to a successful tradesman.

9. To be a constant Learner –

Technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace and if you want to be a great tradesman, you need to keep yourself abreast of the new and recent developments in the industry.
